The Most Popular Plastic Surgeries
Plastic surgeries, often used interchangeably with cosmetic surgery, is a specialty that is dedicated to the reconstruction of any facial or body defects. It is reconstructive in nature, which is why it aims at correcting any dysfunctional body parts.
Here are the three most common plastic surgeries and the reasons why they are done.
Breast augmentation
One of the most common plastic surgeries in the country, breast augmentation, is done to enhance the appearance of one’s breasts. It is done by either inserting breast implants or by injecting fat into the breasts which are taken from other parts of the body. The surgery is done with any of the following purposes:
- To enlarge breasts which are small naturally
- To restore the shape and size of the breasts, which has been affected after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss
- To put asymmetrical breasts in symmetry
- To restore the lost breasts after a surgery
Dermabrasion
The is the most common plastic surgeries. This is more cosmetic in nature since it is a procedure done to eliminate any fine lines from the face and reduce the appearance of scars. This is similar to the chemical peel procedure, but the methods that are used are different in both the procedures. During dermabrasion, the plastic surgeon removes the topmost layer of the skin with the help of a brush that rotates on top speed. The depth and size of the scars and how much wrinkling is present will let the surgeon decide how much skin needs to be removed during the procedure.
Blepharoplasty
This is a surgery done to correct droopy eyelids and make the eyes look younger. With age, the skin on the eyes can start sagging, and they can lose their shape and tone. With the help of a blepharoplasty, this can be rectified. In the procedure, the fat, muscle, and skin, which is excess, is removed by the surgeon. The areas covered in the procedure are upper and lower eyelids. This gives a new and more youthful shape to the eyes. When there is excessive skin on the upper eyelids, they can make your face look tired and even block the vision. Therefore, in some cases, the surgery is done to rectify the appearance, while in others, it is done as a medical necessity in order to allow the patient to have a clear vision. When the surgery is done on the lower eyelids, it is usually done for cosmetic reasons, such as improving the shape of the eyes, rectifying the loose appearance of the skin, and getting rid of bulging fat.
